What's the Big Idea about Being Down to Earth?
"Everybody's dressing up like pirates for Halloween," she said.
"It'll be good for the team," she said.
"Yes, come in full costume," she said.
Guess who were the only two people to dress like pirates at the office for Halloween, 2004--five years before Jovian Concepts was founded. It was the 'new guy' (of course) and his enthusiastic Section Manager. While others may have chuckled at their over-zealousness, the day stands out in the history of Jovian Concepts. It was then that Heather Johnson and Rich Scheper knew that they shared a unique characteristic: they were Down to Earth. While others may have brought just an eye patch to work, Rich and Heather were willing to go all in for their team.
Being Down to Earth is a hallmark of a Jovian Concepts employee. From their first discussions about what Jovian Concepts would be, Rich and Heather imagined a company that would attract talented individuals who would take risks and exceed customer expectations, but in a humble, unassuming way. The type of people who would think of the team -- and be willing to dress like pirates if that's what the team needed.
Recent examples of the Down to Earth spirit involve dancing on the beach with a Junkanoo band, quietly earning accolades for contract work, racing through the mud just for fun, and serving coffee at 7 a.m. to volunteers raising money to help active military, veterans, and their families. From their impact on their local communities and customer missions, to their active participation in safeguarding the culture of Jovian Concepts, our employees consistently prove that they are Down to Earth. . .Up to the Challenge.
