Giving Thanks

What is it about this time of year? Perhaps watching the signs of summer fade into the past causes us to consider the things around us that we hope won't ever change.

At Jovian Concepts, we frequently reflect on what we value most. It was the focus of our most recent summer team building retreat. Various groups of leaders in our company meet regularly to reignite that focus. We feel, as a company, that we are fairly in tune with all that we have for which we are grateful.

Yet, this autumn we have been surprised by our employees going even further than expected in their efforts to reach out to help their communities and our extended Jovian Concepts family. Their generosity has been tested repeatedly this season-- it seems to have no limit.

More employees than ever before volunteered to support our Third Annual Golf Tournament to support the American Red Cross Greater Chesapeake Region's Service to the Armed Forces. At around that same time, hurricanes touched members of our Jovian Concepts family and extended family, not once, but twice. The response from fellow employees was awe inspiring. We were amazed by the generous amount Jovian Concepts employees donated to the American Red Cross disaster relief efforts in such a short window of time.

Yet the outpouring continued. Within days of our company-matching disaster relief campaign, employees were donating winter gear for a Maryland crisis center. When we say at Jovian Concepts that our employees are Down to Earth--Up to the Challenge, we mean it.

Many consider Thanksgiving a time of going home. In Jovian Concepts, whenever we gather together for a team retreat or a holiday party, someone is sure to comment that they feel like they are home. It's a wonderful feeling. As we prepare to pause at the end of this month in celebration of Thanksgiving with friends and family, we at Jovian Concepts extend our warmest gratitude to our employees, who embody the spirit of giving and who make our company a family.
