What's the Big Idea about Service to the Armed Forces?
The Jovian Concepts 2018 Golf Tournament on October 5 will raise money for the American Red
Cross Greater Chesapeake Region's Service to the Armed Forces. To many people, the familiar Red Cross brings to mind disaster relief and blood drives. Jovian Concepts proudly supports both such efforts throughout the year-- but with our annual Golf Tournament we spotlight the service of the American Red Cross that quietly works around the clock for the U.S. military, its veterans, and their families. Each year we are surprised by community members who comment that they were unaware of the work being done by the Service to the Armed Forces; it is our pleasure to bring attention to such a worthy cause.
Beginning with the first day of enlistment, members of all U.S. military branches, active duty personnel, reservists and members of the National Guard are eligible for a continuum of services from Emergency Services and Service to Military Families, to Service to Military and Veterans Hospitals.
Members of the military, veterans, and their families can access services by contacting their local American Red Cross chapter or by downloading the Hero Care app (by American Red Cross) on their mobile devices. Among other things, the app allows users to
--initiate an emergency request;
--learn about financial assistance, Reconnection Workshops, Pre-Deployment preparedness, and other services; and
--get help applying for civilian jobs, finding substance abuse or mental health treatment, and connecting with other local resources.
Jovian Concepts is pleased to offer a variety of Golf Tournament sponsorship levels to make it easy for companies and individuals to support the local American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces. For a list of opportunities, visit our 2018 Golf Tournament page.
