Reflecting on 2021
As 2021 draws to a close, we invite you to join us for a look back at some of the highlights from the year.
We had much to celebrate in 2021. In addition to the honor of being named a 2021 Top Workplace by Baltimore Sun Media, Jovian Concepts was recognized by the U. S. Department of Labor with the 2021 HIRE Vets Medallion Award, and won the Award of Excellence from the Small and Emerging Contractors Advisory Forum (SECAF). We are grateful to our employees for consistently demonstrating their commitment to our shared mission. We applaud their professional accomplishments and also recognize that they've got a lot going on outside the work environment, too.
Just within the last few months, four babies joined the Jovian family! We welcome them and the joy they'll add to their parents' lives. Jovian Concepts supports employees as they balance life changes through generous PTO and other benefits. From growing a family to planning a retirement, Jovian Concepts is there for whatever Jovians and their families need. It's no wonder Jovians identify Loyalty as a Core Value.
Loyalty extends to our community as well. In 2021 our company supported 25 community outreach projects. Jovians collected for local non-profits everything from eyewear and pet food to jeans and children's toys. As our world continues to deal with the effects of a pandemic, the generosity of our friends and neighbors seems to grow. On top of delivering carloads of donations, Jovians rallied support this year for the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces, STEM education, our growing cyber community, and more through a variety of fundraising and awareness events.
Besides being a great year for fundraising, 2021 marked a welcomed return to in-person FUN-raising. Though some events continue to be virtual, Jovians were thrilled to reunite in Baltimore for the annual holiday party, gather for at least a few All Hands meetings, and relax together at a resort for the summer teambuilding retreat. It was on the summer retreat that we put our trivia knowledge to the test after months of playing against each other online. The only problem was that our company president (right) seemed to get a broken buzzer when it was his turn on stage. Not sure how that happened. Honest.
Embracing our competitive nature, in October Jovian Concepts started the Get Moving Challenge. Jovians encourage each other to hike, run, bike, and try new ways to build movement into each week. In just three months many Jovians have reached the first benchmark and some have already met the second! It shouldn't surprise anyone that our company motto is Down to Earth...Up to the Challenge. Logging 345 hours is just the beginning. We look forward to continuing this new program in the new year and to all that 2022 may bring.
